Presented by Carol Roper
Carol Roper, an award-winning writer who has written for, and worked with, Academy Award-winning actor, Robin Williams, is a TV-writer, screenwriter, playwright and theater producer.  She has written and sold TV movie and feature films under contract to Disney Studios, NBC, ABC and United Artists.

Now she passes on smart and fun exercises for starting your script, and easy fixes for a script you've already written.  Learn tips on how to hook an audience, create multi-dimensional characters, write believable dialogue and avoid the dreaded automatic rejection of your work.  How to Write a Screenplay in 9 Weeks was a Writer's Digest Book Club selection and has been used nationwide in Screenwriting classes.

A family-friendly tale which focuses on a photon named Dave and his heroic efforts to save his people, who are caught in a galactic battle between the forces of good and evil.

Learning to Fly - Narrative Short, USA- Directed by Ari Levinson- 12 Minutes
Elizabeth finds herself in pursuit of a butterfly and of the dream of human flight. We see the world as Elizabeth imagines it, the world of a child where the inconsequential takes on supernatural significance.

Narrative Short, USA- Directed by Cameron Sawyer- 18 Minutes
Infatuated with the hottest girl in school, a fifth grader puts everything on the line - including his mullet - to win the girl of his dreams.

12 - Narrative Short, USA- Directed by Bryan Caron- 15 Minutes
A parody of the television show 24, 12 follows high school hall monitor Jackie Brower as she races to stop the students from taking over her high school in the wake of the implementation of a new uniform policy.

Presented by Lisa James
Turn your dream into a reality!  Learn how to make a DV movie on a shoestring budget, no prior knowledge necessary - just a screenplay you're passionate about.  I'll show you the basics from how and where to hold auditions, hiring crew, finding locations, up through post-production and finding a distributor. 
 
Lisa Savy James produced an indie film 'Defying Gravity' (2008) that appeared in 11 film festivals and won 5 awards (including Director's Choice at the Fallbrook Film Fest in 2008).  She is currently in pre-production on her second film, to be shot this summer in the San Diego area.

The Art of Surfing: Carlsbad -
Documentary Short, USA- Directed by Kenneth Kebow- 29 Minutes
Carlsbad, California, has produced some of the best surfers in the world. Beginning with the pioneers of California surfing, 'The Art of Surfing' takes the viewer on an amazing journey when driving down the Carlsbad coast on the beach sands was possible (the 1950s), to the invention of Tom Morey's famous 'Boogie Board' in a Carlsbad garage (the 1970s), to Carlsbad High's top-rated surf team (the 2000s). A fascinating program for anyone who has spent time in this beautiful coastal town, 'The Art of Surfing' is the definitive documentary on California's true 'Surf City'!

Hollywood: Adapt or Die
 
Presented by Michael Schroeder
Having personally experienced the celebrated glories and hidden calamities of production in the ever-changing whirlwind of Hollywood, Michael Schroeder deals with the cinematic trends of today while eyeing what tomorrow may hold for the major studios in Tinseltown and around the globe. His presentation will focus on problem spotting, pre-planning and solution finding to bring the feature film in - on time and on budget - without sacrificing artistic integrity in his storytelling.

Award winning Writer/Director Michael Schroeder, a member of the Directors Guild of America since 1982, has made over forty-six feature films around the world, culminating with his most recent and highly acclaimed Man in the Chair starring Christopher Plummer, Michael Angarano, M. Emmet Walsh and Robert Wagner.  Recognized as a Director who could deliver a film on time and on budget, he has expanded transformed ability into art in bringing his stories through his actors and onto film.

Frank on Frank
Presented by Frank Capra III
Frank Capra was a major force in Hollywood in the 1930's and 40's, winning six Academy Awards including three as Best Director for It Happened One Night (1934), Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936) and You Can't Take It With You (1938), all speaking to the basic goodness of human nature and the value of unselfishness and hard work.

But Fallbrook holds Frank Capra in special esteem as he and his family had a 1,100 acre ranch here, growing avocados and olives - throwing many a Hollywood party.
   
His grandson, Frank Capra III, himself a renowned and recognized Hollywood director and producer (The Bucket List, Rumor Has It, Murder by Numbers and Drop Dead Diva), well recalls his time in the Fallbrook area.  In this workshop, he will show mementos and share recollections of his grandfather who not only personally touched this community but embraced the entire world through his heartfelt cinematic genius.

The modern era of computer animation meets an ancient tale of seduction where nothing seems to be  immune to a woman's powers, not even golden statues.

Unitards - Narrative Feature, USA-Directed by Scott Featherstone- 107 Minutes
High School Musical  meets Napoleon Dynamite. Three odd-ball seniors try to bring school spirit back to their high school by creating a men's dance/drill team.  The coach of the girl's drill team is bent on getting rid of them. She succeeds, and the Unitards are finished. But the boys turn the tables and catch their adversary in her own snare.

A Broken System -

Chronicles how the death penalty system affects those behind the scenes. An exonerated prisoner, an executioner, a mother whose daughter was murdered and a man who watched his own brother die in the execution chamber tell their stories about how they have come to oppose the capital punishment system in America.

A painted Phoenix wills herself into the world where she encounters love, loss, longing and eventual enlightenment.

Requiem for Bobby Fischer -

A Documentary film about chess legend Bobby Fischer through the eyes of his Serbian friends, chess opponents and acquaintances.

This film documents concerns about a quarry which is proposed for Riverside County just north of Fallbrook.  The film raises questions and illustrates problems related to the quarry.

The Man in the Chair - Narrative Feature, USA Directed by Michael Schroeder-107 Minutes
Hoping to craft the winning entry in a student film competition, a teenage movie geek (Michael Angarano) enlists the help of an ornery old Hollywood gaffer (Christopher Plummer), who happens to be the last surviving crew member of Orson Welles' masterpiece Citizen Kane. Written and directed by Michael Shroeder, this unusual comedy also stars Robert Wagner as a has-been producer and M. Emmet Walsh as a retired screenwriter.

Michael struggles to prove to his family that he isn't a pervert, after getting caught masturbating to classical art,. Forced into family therapy for his sexual faux pas, Michael must discover what being 'normal' truly means, all while chasing after the modern girl with the classical tastes.

Clemency - Narrative Short, USA-Directed by Joseph Albanese- 18 Minutes
Arthur Poe is a sadistic killer who likes to torture his victims. In 1993, he was captured and subsequently convicted by the state of Virginia for several gruesome murders.
