The actor Dwayne Johnson shared on his Instagram Sunday that the DC superhero film will release on July 29,2022.

Dwayne Johnson, who is starring as the titular character, share on his Instagram Sunday that the DC superhero.

“A disruptive and unstoppable force of a message from the man in black himself,”

The news comes after it was recently announce that Pierce Brosnan has nabbed the role of classic hero Dr. Fate. 

Black Adam marks the second New Line/DC film following 2019’s hit Shazam!, with the two characters, Shazam and Black Adam, known as archrivals in the DC Universe. Production on the film is slate to begin in April in Atlanta.

Jaume Collet-Serra, who also directed Johnson opposite Emily Blunt in Disney’s upcoming Jungle Cruise, is directing Black Adam. 

Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions.

Johnson also took a fun jab at NCAA sportscaster and former 11-time NBA All-Star Charles Barkley, who is an Alabama native and an Auburn University alum: “And Chuck: There is nothing I can do for an Auburn guy who picks Alabama to go to the Final 4.” Johnson made the tease just before the UCLA vs. Alabama game today.

While Warner Bros. 2021 theatrical slate is going in theaters and on HBO Max day-and-date, the major studio recently hammered a 45-day exclusive theatrical window with No. 2 U.S. exhibitor Regal for their 2022 slate. The news last week indicated that Warner Bros. was returning to a theatrical distribution first window plan for their movies before they arrive on their streaming service.
